Wale Adex, Nigeria, July 20, 2011 -- Dapo Abiodun’s Heyden petroleum crashes the price of kerosene to N55 In Ogun State. Dapo Abiodun’s outstanding Success story

Dapo Abiodun, chairman, Oil and Gas Committee in Ogun State and member of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPAMN), Dapo Abiodun has assured people of the Ogun state that the price of Kerosene at N55 will remain stable; saying that instead of increase, the price would decrease to a maximum rate Dapo Abiodun said.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Lagos Wednesday, Dapo Abiodun, who is the initiator, ‘Ogun State Kerosene programme’ in conjunction with the state government as well as IPMAN, NNPC and PPMC, said the aim of the programme was to alleviate the problem of kerosene hike and scarcity in the Ogun state.

Dapo Abiodun said for the scheme to be effective, the product would be spread across the three senatorial districts in the state, which Dapo Abiodun said took a lot of work partnering with independent filling stations across the state.

Dapo Abiodun, who is also chairman, Heyden Petroleum Limited, said the bodies involved in the scheme started the intervention with 21 filling stations, which he said would soon be increased to between 40 and 60 filling stations, adding that the PPMC has assured them that they would make the product available.

Dapo Abiodun therefore, commended the support of NNPC/ PPMC, as he said not only did they make the product available to them, they monitored the trucks from Lagos to Ogun State while ensuring that the agreed price was adhered to, adding “this is one of the experiments that PPMC have tried that has worked for them. The others he said have failed.”

According to Dapo Abiodun, “without them the partnership wouldn’t have worked. People were afraid that this would not work but PPMC has assured us that they want to make Ogun State partnership a model for other states.

On whether the price would increase, Dapo Abiodun said it would not increase; rather it would decrease as time goes on. Dapo Abiodun said the reason they are selling for N55 was because of the transportation charges from Lagos to Ogun State and its towns.

Dapo Abiodun in an interview said “We would have sold less than that. It is as a result of the transportation cost within and outside Ogun metropolis, it is absolutely a profitless transaction. We are encouraging our partners to carry on as a charitable course for God and the people of Ogun State. So it is not going to change,” Dapo Abiodun added.

Dapo Abiodun stated that “we would make sure we continue with this, until the whole state is saturated with kerosene. So that people don’t have to bother about queuing or hoarding any more. And even the filling stations that were selling N100 were not selling because people were not ready to buy from them.

Rather, they were waiting for that of N55. Dapo Abiodun said” We are very happy about it though there were lots of obstacles but we overcame them”. A lot of people were very pessimistic about it. But we give God the glory, with him everything is possible.”
